ePropulsion, a global leader and market challenger in marine electric propulsion systems and services, is delighted to announce it has won a prestigious European Commercial Marine Award (ECMA’s), in the ‘Innovations Showcase Category Award’, for its I-Series electrical inboard at this year’s #seawork. The awards were announced during a packed ceremony at the on-site Waterfront Restaurant on Tuesday 13th June, and sees #ePropulsion join the ranks of many important products recognised over the years.

Seawork is Europe's largest commercial marine and workboat exhibition, and the ECMA’s recognize and celebrate the outstanding individuals and innovative companies that comprise the vibrant and productive commercial marine industry. The Innovations Showcase offers exhibitors the opportunity to demonstrate the latest in equipment, services, projects, and vessels introduced in the last 12 months since the last #seawork exhibition. The awards recognise the highest levels of innovative marine technology, and are an opportunity to showcase originality, ability to problem solve and make a real difference to the industry with the latest in design and ingenuity.

"This (I-Series Electric Inboad) is filling a gap in the market we haven't yet filled, and we can see huge potential,” said ECMA’s judging panel.

ePropulsion’s I-Series, available in 10KW, 20KW and 40KW input power, is a range of user-friendly and space-saving electric inboard motors. The range, which includes the I-10, I-20 and I-40 models, are ideal for leisure marine and commercial applications on small and medium size vessels. This innovative and sustainable series was launched in autumn 2022, and is underpinned by the #ePropulsion Smart System Architecture (eSSA) which takes the electronic control unit (ECU) as the core, integrating the electric drive system, interactive system, battery system and cloud all into one. It allows users to access cloud-based connectivity services without the need for additional accessories. From here, with authorisation, users can check everything from the location of the boat to battery level, speed and charging status, automatically generate sailing logs, authorise guests to power on for easy boat sharing remotely and even turn on the security mode and notify the user instantly should the boat be stolen.

With a compact, smart and modular design that integrates five functional modules of motor, gearbox, motor controller, system control unit and cooling system, the I-Series not only offers a sleek, space efficient alternative to other electric inboard motors, but also delivers a safe and reliable performance thanks to its fault diagnosis system and full redundancy design. The I-10, I-20 and I-40 are also 65% lighter than a typical combustion engine with an easy to maintain, high-performance and durable lithium iron phosphate battery.

Danny Tao, CEO of #ePropulsion, commented: “We are honored to have won the Innovation Showcase Award for our I-Series at this year’s #seawork. At #ePropulsion, we’re passionate about making boating more sustainable. Our innovative I-Series fulfils a gap in the market, and the versatile, electric inboard motors are the most advanced yet. With this range, we have created the ideal solution for various application, from retrofitting to brand new boat projects. I would like to thank our teams for all their hard work in achieving the award, and look to the future, as we continue to spearhead the coming electric and intelligent boating revolution.”

At this year’s #seawork, Steve Bruce, Global OEM Sales Director and Managing Director of #ePropulsion UK, gave a talk on ‘Decarbonisation & OPEX Reduction Session 1: Alternative fuels – how operators can make the right choice’, highlighting the global applications of ePropulsion’s innovative electric technology.
