Heesen’s Moskito to debut at Monaco Yacht Show 2021

10 August 2021 – Leading Dutch shipyard Heesen has revealed it will debut Moskito at this year’s #monaco #yacht Show 2021 (22-25 September). The newest launch in the successful 55-metre Steel Class, she boasts #interiordesign by renowned British studio Bannenberg & Rowell and exterior lines by Omega Architects.

EXTERIOR DESIGN
Penned by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, Moskito’s powerful exteriors lines lend an air of calm authority, characterised by striking ‘shark-tooth’ superstructure overhangs and vertical windows. The epitome of elegance on the water, she features the latest iteration of Van Oossanen’s ultra-efficient Fast Displacement Hull Form, offering a high cruising speed, long range, and excellent hydrodynamic efficiency. Powered by IMO III-compliant MTU 8V 4000 M63s, she offers frugal fuel consumption of just 150 litres per hour at 11 knots.
Extensive use of glass throughout provides an abundance of natural light. Floor-to-ceiling windows and open bulwarks illuminate interior amenities, whose sweeping sea-to-sky vistas immerse guests in the beauty of the environment.
INTERIOR DESIGN
British #design duo Bannenberg & Rowell have created bold and sophisticated interiors. A blend of natural, noble tones and a tailored spatial arrangement creates a sense of gravitas. Traditionally crafted smoked Oak chevron parquet flooring, white Thassos, grey St. Laurent and ivory Travertine marble are used throughout, with warm bronze accent that underwrite fine workmanship and furnishings.
“We wanted to take the breath away, without being aesthetically intimidating,” says Bannenberg. “That fine line between approachability and comfort. Something cool and interesting, but subtle.”
On the main deck lies the owner’s apartment, spanning more than eighty-two square metres. Bespoke furnishings include a desk commissioned from GMS joinery in London. Oak parquet and eucalyptus veneers add continuity to the main deck colour palette – soft, easy going and light in tone. A spiral staircase leads to four exceptional ensuite cabins on the lower deck – two doubles and two twins – each with a spacious bathroom, a wardrobe and a dressing table. Large hull windows give every cabin and every bathroom a beautiful view.
LIFESTYLE
Moskito’s exterior guest spaces add up to some two hundred and fifty square metres. Her sizeable sundeck will be the focus of open-air life on the #yacht, at anchor or in port – complete with a pool, bar, seating and sunbathing areas. Linked to the deck saloon by simple sliding doors, Moskito’s aft terrace provides forty-four square metres of alfresco comfort.
For dining and entertaining, the table at the centre of the main deck can seat twelve, for relaxed or formal occasions. Artworks have been sources from British talents – from flowing porcelain forms by Fenella Elms, to Rose Vickers’ marquetry mosaics, and intricate paper collages by Hormazd Narielwalla. High up on the bridge deck, the secluded skylounge is ideal for periods of calm and relaxation. “Our guiding philosophy was that the owner should be as happy hosting a black-tie dinner as lounging in their shorts,” says Bannenberg.
Moskito’s crowning jewel is a unique dedicated wellness area is accessible via the opulent beach club, complete with sauna, seating, shower and shade. Teak underfoot and textured limestone panels contrast with reeded glass to create a rich, intimate and relaxing environment. Hidden from view, down by the water, it offers every comfort imaginable, with a life-enhancing swim in the sea just a few steps away.
