Makocraft Launches X-Series Fibreglass Range

While 2020 was a year like no other, 2021 is shaping up to be no different for #Makocraft owner, Tim Stessl. With the entire marine industry experiencing a boom in sales, this has consequently resulted in plenty of challenges in terms of keeping up with demand, as well as a backlog in sourcing aluminum. With these considerations, 2021 felt like the right time for #Makocraft to launch a range of four-metre fibreglass boats, something Mr Stessl has said he has been on the cards for some time.

“While it would seem unusual for an aluminum manufacturer to essentially hop the fence, the X-Series has come about as a result of culmination of many years of consideration and design” said Mr Stessl. “I’ve always loved the sleek look of fibreglass boats and now seemed a good a time as any to launch this new range, especially given the demand for watercraft is at an all time high”.

In 2009, Mr Stessl took a hiatus from aluminum boats and moved into sales roles focusing on American fibreglass leisure boats, so he is certainly no stranger to this make of boat.

“My time selling fibreglass boats wasinvaluable in that it provided me with another foundation of knowledge in the marine industry” he said. “It has essentially pathed the way for me to add another realm to #Makocraft, and further strengthen its profile in the Australian boating market, offering both aluminum and fibreglass models”.

The new #Makocraft X-Series combines stability, ride, and the sleek finish you would expect on a fibreglass hull, and as an introductory, Mr Stessl haslaunched two models in the range. An X-Lite model which is a four metre vacuum infused  hullsuitable as a cartopper, as well as an X-Max model, which is a four metre sold GRP hull. While most glass boat designers go straight for a deep V design from bow to stern, Mr Stessl wanted some of that in the entry, but also wanted a super stable hull which can be seen in the execution of design.

In terms of adding further models to the X Series, Mr Stessl confirmed that he will release further hull sizes to compliment the X-Lite and X-Max four metre models during the course of 2021. His popular range of aluminum car toppers continue to dominate production, and he is confident this will also transpire across to the fibreglass range. With current wait times from ordering to delivery around the six-week mark, this is a far cry shorter than the current wait times on aluminum boats and is a lead time in which Mr Stessl is confident will get the market excited.

Those interested in seeing the new X-Series for themselves can visit the #Makocraft showroom on the Gold Coast, while Mr Stessl has also confirmed he has committed to exhibiting at SCIBS in May and will have a number of the X-Series boats on display.

“It’s certainly a very busy and exciting time in the marine industry right now, I’m excited to be providing another range to complement the existing #Makocraft offering and providing both a leading aluminum and fibreglass boat range on the Australian market”.
