Azimut Yachts wins at the Boat International Award

The #grande Collection by #azimut Yachts receives its second award since the start of the year: the #grande 32 Metri, with exteriors by Stefano Righini and interiors by Achille Salvagni, climbs to the top step of the podium in the Naval Architecture category at the Boat International #design & Innovation Awards. The Gala party took place yesterday, January 27th, in Cortina D’Ampezzo; the judges were struck in particular by the combination of major technological innovations with an extremely refined architectural approach.

The success of the #grande Collection shows no signs of ending, with its second award of the year received in the space of just a few short weeks. The panel of judges at the Boat International #design & Innovation Awards, organised by one of the world’s most highly respected boat magazines, has chosen Grande 32 Metri as the winner of its “Naval Architecture Semi-Displacement or Planing Motor Yachts. category.

This comes just a few weeks after Azimut #grande 32 Metri was named “Best Motor #yacht in Asia” at the Christofle #yacht Style Awards (in the 25 to 30 meter category).

A forward-thinking project from every perspective, #grande 32 Metri stands out for its combination of an advanced naval platform with an extremely refined architectural approach. In fact, at its world debut during the 2018 Cannes Boat Show, the #yacht received the Best Interior Design award in the World Yachts Trophies (24 to 38 meter category).

The jury of the Boat International #design & Innovation Awards has awarded the prestigious recognition to the #grande 32 Metri recognizing the documented effort the shipyard made on several fronts to improve the yacht’s comfort and performance through an even more innovative use of the technology: from the investments in research and development, to the use of carbon fiber, up to the innovative D2P hull.

Speaking about the jury’s comments, Giovanna Vitelli, Azimut|Benetti Group Vice-President, recalled how: "Last year the flagship of the #grande Collection, the 35 Metri, had received numerous awards and with the new #grande 32 Metri we are keeping up with this lucky trend. Not only the market appreciates the distinctive features of the individual #azimut models, but we are also receiving positive feedback for all the renovation process, begun 4 years ago, of our entire #grande Collection, which we are currently expanding with two important new models. Our focus in the superyachyt area, supported by important investments in research and development, has indeed received excellent feedbacks from the market ".

The exteriors designed by Righini are bold and determined. The full-height windows in the bow straddle the hull and superstructure, contributing to a reduction in the boat’s perceived volume, while the vertical bow delivers excellent livability.

Like the other yachts in the Collection, the interiors are designed by Salvagni with an approach that shies away from pure decoration to focus on spatial composition, ensuring they are equally cosy, simple and refined. The spaces are laid out on the basis of a succession of contrasts between full and empty and between polished dark and light-coloured woods.

Grande 32 has a Raised Pilot House, located on a half deck between the Main Deck and the Flybridge, and the entire superstructure is laminated in Carbon Tech with the addition of vinylester and epoxy resin. This technique reduces the weight of each individual carbon-laminated part by between 30 and 40%.

The D2P® Displacement to Planing hull designed by Pierluigi Ausonio in partnership with the #azimut | Benetti Research and Development centre features a wave piercing bow that increases the length at the waterline, resulting in a better waterplane coefficient in displacement mode, reduced hull resistance, and better wave strike in rough sea. In addition, the double-chine reduces hull resistance at more sustained cruising speeds and improves stability in displacement mode.

This new award adds even more prestige to an increasingly high-profile and well-loved Collection. The panel of judges who assign the Boat International Awards has already confirmed its appreciation of the combined charm and technology featured in #grande Collection models and last year named the #grande 35 Metri ‘Best New Production #yacht Design’.
