Pedrali at IMM 2019: New collections between stylistic research of design and materials

Also this year #Pedrali, Italian leading company producing #design furniture for public spaces, offices and homes, takes part to IMM in Cologne, the first international fair of the year dedicated to #interiordesign, from 14th to 20th January.

The setting of #Pedrali (Hall 2.2 Stand A-003) located inside Pure Editions , the section directed at #design premium brands, pays tribute to the Italian company's "latest good ideas" with an installation that is both a product spectacularization and draws inspiration from an object as charged with meaning as the light bulb, which becomes a communicative and architectural element.

The stand, designed by the Milanese studio Calvi Brambilla, forms a single, highly architectural volume, marked by longitudinal and circular openings strung with light bulbs and it is dominated by the colour blue, a clear reference to the company's two-year advertising campaign.
The reference to theatre is immediate: round and rectangular platforms edged with iconic light bulbs, where “director” #Pedrali will stage a brand new show featuring the company's latest products. Just as the leading actress puts the final touches to her look in the privacy of her dressing room, so the products are reflected in large mirrors, as if preparing to go on stage.

Six collections are in the spotlight of the exhibition space. Special attention is given to the new collaboration with the Catalan designer Eugeni Quitllet, with his two new products, stemming from a stylistic research involving shapes and materials. Remind is an innovative polypropylene armchair in which each element has been measured to ensure total comfort and cosiness. Soul is a chair in wood and polycarbonate that expresses an idea of uncontaminated creativity.

There are also two new projects by CMP #design. Tribeca, an outdoor seating collection that is a modern reinterpretation of classic Sixties patio chairs made from steel and woven material and Nym, collection made of solid ash wood that, thanks to the polyurethane foam padding, ensures absolute comfort.
The exhibition continues with Vic by Patrick Norguet, a collection of comfortable and simply elegant upholstered seatings, and Elinor, an Executive chair that is the result of the new collaboration with the designer Claudio Bellini: refined with a high aesthetic quality, it is perfect also for a home-office.

The collections are matched with Elliot tables by Patrick Jouin, with its minimal #design.

Beyond the mirrors there is a lounge area characterized by a red carpet, which contrasts the blue walls. Here it is possible to sit on Fox, by Patrick Norguet, and Jazz armchairs, combined with Fluxo tables by Luca Casini, or to take a break on Buddy chairs, two seats benches and chaise-longue, designed by Busetti Garuti Redaelli, with generous backrests, with softly upholstered poufs, creating a comfortable, versatile and functional collection.

SOUL

Pure creativity
#design Eugeni Quitllet

“Soul is a link between the concrete and the abstract, between the real world and that of dreams, between past and future... the unspoiled state of creation” (Eugeni Quitllet)
The concept of Soul stems from the idea of creating a chair using a blend of age-old methods and cutting-edge techniques, allowing tradition and innovation to evolve seamlessly. The result is a hybrid of nature and technology: the hand and the machine work together, almost like a test of creativity, firmly away from the clutches of artificial intelligence. Soul expresses an idea of uncontaminated creativity, without the ornaments that would conceal its true nature. Defined by its soul, the whole structure is joined together by an almost invisible seat. The ash structure of Soul has a minimalistic, flowing silhouette, characterized by a harmonious interplay of curves and subtle lines. The ergonomic polycarbonate seat appears suspended, clasped by the skeleton, almost like an embrace. Soul is the result of #design research that involves both forms and materials, and offers a superbly comfortable chair with visually striking appeal.

Materials: solid ash frame, seat in polycarbonate.
Finishes: bleached ash with a transparent or white seat. Black ash with a transparent smoky grey or black seat. Stackable

REMIND

Between mind & heart #design Eugeni Quitllet

Remind, or call back to mind - a concept rendered in Latin by the word ‘re-cordis’, meaning ‘to pass through the heart’. (Eugeni Quitllet)
Mind and heart have been both essential to create Remind: the heart in its creation and the mind in its production. While evoking the soft sinuous curves of wooden chairs from the late nineteenth century, Remind’s organic silhouette recalls "something never seen before”, a universal shape able to fit into any space and style of decor. The result is an innovative polypropylene armchair, in which each element is conceived to ensure total comfort and cosiness. The breathable texture makes it airy and even lighter. Made from injection-moulded polypropylene, the armchair is functional and versatile, perfect for both outdoor and indoor spaces.

Materials: single-material chair in reinforced polypropylene. Finishes: white, sand, green, red, grey, black.

TRIBECA

Fasten your seat, belt! CMP #design

Tribeca takes us back in time with a modern reinterpretation of classic Sixties patio chairs made from steel and woven material. Tribeca is an outdoor seating collection that draws inspiration from childhood memories of summer: a sunlit Mediterranean square where children play, while a woven chair throws shadows of its cords onto the cobblestones. A true icon, revisited with new materials: a steel frame, combined with the elasticity of a profile in vertically-woven plastic material that is remarkably durable, easy to clean and colourful. Handcrafted with the highest attention to detail, this chair is incredibly soft and comfortable and puts a contemporary twist on tradition with its cutting-edge #design and quality. The cording is arranged to give a fresh and dynamic sense of rhythm and openness to every version, whether it’s the chair, armchair or stool in two different heights. Tribeca is available in several colours: white, pink, red, terracotta, brown, blue, sage green.

Materials: Ø20mm tube structure powder coated for outdoor use; backrest and seat in woven extruded PVC with a nylon core.
Finishes: white, pink, red, terracotta, brown, blue, sage green.

NYM SOFT

The merry chair of Windsor CMP #design

Simple yet refined, sophisticated yet versatile, Nym Soft recalls the outlines of the omonymous wooden chairs collection, subtly accentuating and enhancing its comfort. The result is a timeless, organic chair reminiscent of the hollow of a hand, a nest or an embrace. The key feature of Nym Soft lies in the different densities of the polyurethane foam padding, which is significantly thicker in the seat area, ensuring adaptability and support - two central elements of comfort. Nym Soft is available with solid ash wood legs, a steel rod sled frame, or a swivelling base with return mechanism. The wooden elements of Nym Soft are FSC-certified and finished with bio water-based paints. The use of raw materials sourced from certified forests and of water-based paints made principally from plant-derived resins is a guarantee of our company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

Materials: steel frame padded with flexible polyurethane foam. Solid ash wood legs or steel rod sled frame Ø11mm. Finishes: bleached ash wood, ash wood stained light walnut, or ash wood lacquered light grey, black or white. Upholstery in fabric or simil leather.

SEDIA VIC

Crossover elegance #design Patrick Norguet

The elegance and the minimal outline of Vic chair draws inspiration from classic mid-century chairs. The style of the chair has been modernised using advanced technology: the backrest with sinuous shapes lifts up from the seat while remaining tied only at the ends. The resulting opening provides Vic with #design lightness and eases the handling. The soft seat with polyurethane foam padding is supported by elastic belts, for absolute comfort. The legs are

available either in solid ash wood with a plastic carter under the seat, or in tubular steel, joined seamlessly with the carter, which can be upholstered to match the seat. The seat and backrest can be upholstered in leather or fabric for a high grade of customization.

Materials: seat and backrest with inner structure in steel; seat with elastic belts and padded with flexible polyurethane foam. Legs in solid ash wood or high-tensile tubular steel Ø25mm.
Finishes: stained black ash wood or powder coated steel and antique brass.

ELINOR Executive chair

A classy hug
Design Claudio Bellini

Elinor blends the know-how of Milanese #design studio Claudio Bellini Associati, renowned for its pioneering vision of contemporary office furniture, with the Italian Brand’s engineering expertise. The result is a multitasking product that reflects the needs of a changing market, characterized by a high level of aesthetic quality. This executive chair incorporates the different attitudes and approaches to working life looking to the future: it is dynamic and designed with people’s wellbeing in mind. Its visual styling is essential yet distinctive, and offers excellent performance thanks to its “smart components”, to use Claudio Bellini’s words, “which make it state-of-the-art yet inconspicuous”, as they are integrated into the seat. Elinor has an elegant base in die-cast aluminium, with aesthetically pleasing sinuous lines. A weight-activated synchro-tilt mechanism integrated in the upholstered seat allows the tilting to be self- regulated according to the user’s body weight, ensuring that the back is kept in the most comfortable position. Other strong points of Elinor are its comfort and body-hugging feeling, thanks to the polyurethane injected foam on both seat and back. A light, slimline, strong armrest in die-cast aluminium defines the base of the backrest with its flowing line, accentuating the attention to detail that characterizes this unique chair.

ELLIOT

Just like a dancer #design Patrick Jouin

With its elegant silhouette and minimal #design, Elliot table has a strong identity that combines soft lines with sinuous natural forms. The shape of the column, which transforms into an airy base, expresses continuity and attention to detail, while the table's sophisticated architectural #design conveys a striking sense of harmony and solidity, making it light and functional. The three-lobed column in extruded aluminium narrows down and splits open to form three feet in die-cast aluminium, which elegantly sit on the floor. Designed for indoor and outdoor use, and available in three different heights, the Elliott table is also offered with a folding top so that it can be stored away with very little space.

Materials: die-cast aluminium base, extruded aluminium column. Available in three heights: 500mm, 730mm and 1080 mm.
Finishes: polished or powder coated aluminium.
