Thomaston, Maine, June 2023 The latest #monhegan42 is getting ready to splash and enjoy the cruising season, representing the continuation of a long-standing relationship between #lymanmorse and #craymondhuntassociates. The Monhegan represents Lyman-Morse’s continued success with creating a series of semi-custom yachts that allow an owner to customize a vessel to suit their needs using an existing design platform. This proven process delivers all the attributes of a custom #yacht, with far less lead time.

Hull no. 3 of the #monhegan42 series rides on Hunt’s renowned deep-V hull design and will get power from a pair of 550-horsepower Cummins QSB 6.7 diesels, giving her a cruising speed of 28 knots, with a top end of 32 knots. “This latest #monhegan42 takes a little from each of her predecessors in terms of layout and profile,” said Howard Myers, project manager for Ly- man-Morse. “She will have an interior like that of hull no. 1, with a galley-down layout leading to the primary stateroom in the bow, while her express cruiser profile more closely resembles that of hull no. 2. It’s a great example of our ability to provide clients with the custom options they’re looking for.”

The helm station of hull no. 3 is custom to the owner’s specific needs, with oversized 17-inch display screens, as well as bow and stern thrusters for easy docking. Below, there is a galley and dinette/lounge area for meal prep and dining, a head, shower, and primary stateroom forward. This owner wanted to be able to lie down on the settee and relax, so the team at Lyman incorporated a custom footwell into the layout to allow for optimal relaxation. Interior joinery is made from South American mahogany, with teak and wenge accents.

Additional options abound on this model, demonstrating a key attribute to the semi-custom series approach. There are four available configurations, including flybridge, extended cruiser, and open. The 42 employs the SCRIMP resin infusion method which maximizes strength, reduces weight, and delivers a precise lay-up.

While hull no. 3’s owner is a longtime boater, this is their first foray into a semi-custom build. When surveying the industry, they chose #lymanmorse due to their unparalleled ability to produce bespoke, semi-custom boats that deliver unrivaled performance, safety, and convenience at sea.
