Garmin receives approval for the GFC 600 autopilot in the Baron 58 and Cessna 340 aircraft models
April 26, 2018 - #garmin is pleased t o announce it has received Federal Aviat ion Administ rat ion (FAA) Supplement al Type Cert ificat ion (STC) for t he GFC 600 aut opilot for t he Baron 58/58A (1984 model year or lat er) and Cessna 340/340A aircraft . Int ended for high performance pist on single/t win-engine and t urbine aircraft t hat have a wide range of speed and performance capabilit ies, t he GFC 600 delivers superior in-flight charact erist ics, self-monit oring t echnologies and minimal maint enance needs when compared t o older generat ion aut opilot syst ems. The GFC 600 is designed as a st andalone aut opilot t hat boast s superior int egrat ion pot ent ial wit h t he G500 TXi/G600 TXi and t he G500/G600 glass flight displays, #garmin navigat ors, as well as a variet y of t hird-part y flight displays, inst rument s and navigat ion sources. The self-cont ained aut opilot cont roller incorporat es backlit keys and a bright , sunlight readable display t hat depict s aut opilot st at us and mode select ion. An int uit ive built -in cont rol wheel also provides convenient adjust ment of aircraft pit ch, airspeed and vert ical speed modes. When t he level but t on is select ed, t he aircraft aut omat ically ret urns t o st raight -and-level flight . Environment ally hardened aut opilot servos designed for harsh operat ing condit ions cont ain brushless DC mot ors and a gear t rain t hat eliminat es t he need for a mechanical slip clut ch, offering improved performance and reducing maint enance requirement s when compared t o decades-old servo designs on t he market t oday. St andard mark- widt h design of t he GFC 600 ensures t he aut opilot cont roller allows for rout ine inst allat ion int o t he aircraft ’s avionics st ack. Aut opilot mode annunciat ion is available on t he G500 TXi, G600 TXi t ouchscreen glass flight displays, as well as t he G500 and G600. The addit ion of an opt ional aut opilot annunciat or panel also displays t he select ed aut opilot mode in t he pilot ’s primary field of view and ret ains an ident ical foot print of t hird-part y aut opilot annunciat ors on t he market .
