Tankoa Yachts - S501 under construction
Tankoa Yachts and Yacht-Ology are happy release new details about the works in progress of S501. The first #tankoa S501 was sold last February 2015 to an experienced French client. Construction of this first 50 meter started early May 2015. Delivery is scheduled on time in April 2017.
S501 which has been sold by Yacht-Ology in collaboration with Aquila Yachting to a French client recently reached a significant milestone with the hull, deck and superstructure, all in aluminium, completed and moved from Marina di Carrara to enter in the completion shed in Genova on November 20th. Engines and generators are already in and fairing will be started in December. The interior moke-up has been approved by the owner and production of all the cabins has begun before the end of the year.
According to Michel Karsenti and Tankoa's CEO, Euro Contenti, this is a true recognition of the "boutique shipyard" values and power that irrevocably consists in building yachts with clients, not for clients. Karsenti declared "despite the impressive background and success track records of the entire #tankoa management, we are extremely proud that the client, his surveyor and broker, Daniel Bussani from Aquila Yachting, decided #tankoa was the most suitable shipyard to built his new #yacht after investigating a number of European builders"
Project S501 was one of the first initiative resulting of the partnership between #tankoa and Yacht-Ology right after Karsenti contracted S693 that have been delivered last summer. She represents the quintessence of the result between a high quality builder and a marketing and sales organization that is in daily contact with #yacht owners, captains and surveyors. Tankoa’s management team and Karsenti worked in close collaboration with Francesco Paszkowski to design the project in order to reach the following goals:
- Achieve a perfectly balanced and fluid timeless design that will not look like what is currently offered on the market.
- Offer perfect circulation flows for owners and guest to move from deck to deck and from inside to outside without interfering with the working crew while giving them a total freedom of movement to carry on their tasks.
- Give the owner in a 499 Gross Tons package the type of amenities and equipments commonly found on much larger yachts. S501 hull number one will be a six cabin #yacht including main deck full beam master and VIP suite, four lower deck guest cabins, gym, home cinema, a 7 meter tender garage among other amenities as well as floor to ceiling windows and hydraulic balconies in the master cabin and on the aft deck.
Keeping permanent visual contact with the sea was one of the other tasks assigned to Francesco Paszkowski’s design team.
Interiors, as per client's request, will be the work of Francesco Paszkowski Design Studio in cooperation with Margherita Casprini and should reflect a "modern but warm" atmosphere.
This first model of project S501 will be in its full displacement version offering a range of 5,000 Nautical Miles at 12 knots and 16 knots top speed.
S501 will be entirely built in aluminium light alloy 5083.
TANKOA S501, PACKAGE AND PHILOSOPHY
The S501 has been created around fundamental layout criteria and technical parameters collected from #yacht owners, captains, surveyors and engineers. The genesis of the project did not rise from a specific design idea. At this stage, Francesco Paszkowski received the list of non-negotiable items that had to be part of the new project, which he drew in accordance to his style and special feel.
The main parameters that were given to the designer and ended up being an integral part of the project:
- Simple administration and reduced management cost. The S501's displacement will be kept under the 500 Gross Tons mark.
- Reasonable consumption. The S501 hull - even in its full displacement version - will be built in light alloy to reduce weight and the need for kW at a given speed. Three power packages will be offered for respective top speeds of 16, 18 and 27 knots.
- Amenities. Under both technical and layout aspects, the S501 concept derives from the principle that form follows function. While most of the 50 meter yachts available on the market are evolutions of existing models, with new “trends” in equipment and amenities fitted at a later date, the S501 has been conceived and engineered around the modern amenities.
- Design within 499 GT. The choice of Francesco Paszkowski was a natural fit considering the long lasting relationship between the star designer and Tankoa’s executives. His mission was clear: to design a breath-taking #yacht that would allow the integration of all modern equipment and amenities while maximizing guest and owner space while staying at 499 GT.
- Hull design from cruise ships. The hull design has been assigned to Massimo Visibelli whose work is famous in the cruise ship industry. He is considered an eminent design expert of hydrofoil hulls.
- Running comfort. Most clients are concerned about silence and running comfort. For these reasons, S501 has been designed with a modified plumb bow, a wide hard chine and high free board to minimize spray when at speed.
- Enjoying the sea. Another widespread desire of #yacht owners is to enjoy the sea around them. For this reason, the #tankoa S501 is equipped with hydraulic lateral foldout terraces on the aft deck, floor to ceiling windows in the dining room, safety-glass balconies aft, sliding side windows in the dining room, foldout balconies in the master cabin, and a panoramic view of the sea from wherever owners or guests may be seated.
- Extended outdoor spaces. Three huge sun pads and three external dining areas are part of the initial design package offered with the S501. A swimming pool may also be included in the package.
- Oversized teak-finished tender garage for a 6,50 meter RIB, that converts to a real beach-club once the transom door is opened.
